「商品」かつ「アート作品」でもあるアロハシャツは、すべての工程にこだわりをもち、完全に手作業で1つ1つ丁寧に仕上げています。1つの作品を仕上げるまでに要する期間は約2ヶ月。花鳥風月や色味から毎年のテーマを決め、1年間で100〜200着もの作品を手掛けています。
⚫︎素材の選定
全国各地の骨董市など各地に足を運び素材を厳選。毎年のテーマに沿った柄や色味のものを集めています。頭の中でアロハシャツを細分化して、襟はこの着物の素材を取り入れよう、胸元にはこの柄でワンポイントのアクセントにしようなど、アロハシャツの完成デザインをイメージしながら、素材を選定しています。また、リメイクしてお客様に長く着用していただくために、着物の生地の状態を見極めていることもこだわりの１つです。保管方法によっては、耐久性が低く、軽い負荷で簡単に破けてしまうため、素材収集の際には細心の注意をしています。

We carefully select materials by visiting antique markets and other locations across the country. We collect items with patterns and colors that match each year's theme. I divided the aloha shirt into smaller parts in my head, and when selecting materials, I imagined the final design of the aloha shirt, such as incorporating this kimono material into the collar and adding a special accent to the chest with this pattern. Masu. Another thing we pay particular attention to is the condition of the kimono's fabric so that we can remake it and have our customers wear it for a long time. Depending on how they are stored, they are not very durable and can easily tear under light stress, so we are very careful when collecting materials.
⚫︎ほどき
着物という日本の美学の詰まった「衣」。美しく丁寧に作られたものを、着物のまま大事にしまわれているよりも、その美しさをたくさんの方々に見てもらうためデザインする。そう思い、着物をほどいています。この工程において大事なのは「慎重さ」と「根気」です。着物を解いて新たにアロハシャツとしてデザインするために、破る・穴をあけるなど本来の柄が失われることのないように、また縫製後に破れなどに繋がらないように手作業で丁寧にほどいています。

ほどきを終えたら、生地を洗います。多くの着物は正絹でできているため、間違った洗い方をすると、色落ちしたり、縮んだりと、着物を傷めてしまうため、こちらも非常に気を遣う作業になります。そして、洗い終えた生地は丁寧に手作業でシワを伸ばして、陰干しをしていきます。
